Heaptalk, Jakarta — PT DesktopIP Teknologi Indonesia, a prominent digital technology company, win First Runner-Up in the international prestigious ICT competition, the 2024 Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards, for the ICT Services category. This accolade reflects the company’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions that support a sovereign digital ecosystem amid global competition.
DesktopIP’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Phidi Soepangkat, elaborated on the key factors behind selecting their flagship product, IfVirty, for the competition. Introducing the concept of Sovereign Cloud, he explained that, particularly in the data privacy context, this ideation is often narrowly interpreted as merely the physical location of data storage within a nation’s jurisdiction. According to him, the True Sovereign Cloud advocated by DesktopIP extends far beyond this limited understanding, encompassing critical elements such as full control over the underlying technology, cost management, and data security governance.
“Our Sovereign Cloud concept is designed to free nations from the often one-sided dominance of data regulations. Digital sovereignty is not merely about data storage locations; it is fundamentally about empowering nations to independently control their technology development and cost management,” Phidi affirmed.
Through its innovative approach, DesktopIP aims to achieve three core objectives:
- Promoting digital resilience: Empowering nations across the Asia-Pacific region, including Indonesia, to manage their data securely and independently.
- Overcoming global regulatory constraints: Showcasing technology infrastructure that remains free from the dominance of Superpower’s policy.
- Delivering sustainable solutions: Ensuring competitive and affordable costs, allowing nations to maintain full access and control over their data.
Amid a highly competitive field of participants showcasing cutting-edge technologies, DesktopIP believes its unique product offerings affirm that Indonesian technology can drive sovereignty in its digital data and cloud infrastructure.
“This is why we chose IfVirty as our debut product for the competition. Our goal was to showcase its uniqueness. From what we’ve observed, no other entity in Southeast Asia has independently developed a comparable technology,” said DesktopIp’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Wisesa Widyantoro.
This achievement will allow DesktopIP to expand its reach within the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, the recognition is expected to elevate global awareness of the company’s technological advancements.
“We will leverage this award to expand our business horizons and stay motivated to develop products tailored to market needs. Ultimately, this accomplishment will enhance our presence and positively contribute to the company’s growth,” Wisesa added.
Well-structured readiness of DesktopIP for APICTA 2025
Looking forward, DesktopIP is gearing up for the 2025 APICTA Awards, focusing on introducing unique and innovative products. The company will continue prioritizing usability, functionality, and user experience of product improvements while enhancing internal collaboration to ensure optimal product readiness, presentations, and competition strategies. By implementing this strategic approach, the Indonesian IT firm is confident in its ability to compete more vigorously and elevate homegrown innovations to greater heights.
“Our participation is not solely about winning; it’s about driving meaningful technological progress for Indonesia and the Asia-Pacific region. We aim to showcase Indonesia’s exceptional talent in developing independent, world-class technologies and foster greater collaboration opportunities. IfVirty is not just a platform; it’s the foundation for achieving Digital Sovereignty,” Phidi concluded.
