Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Indonesian delegation at the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) 2024 secured six international awards across five categories. This annual international ICT event occurred in Brunei Darussalam from December 4 to 7, 2024, with around 500 participants from 17 countries.
Based on APICTA’s announcement, Indonesia’s cloud computing DesktopIP’s IfVirty won the first runner-up position in the ICT Services category. For Marketing and Security Solutions, Bank Mandiri’s Livin’ Personalization Campaign also claimed the first runner-up position. In the Education, Sustainability, and Environment category, Storyjourney.ai secured the first runner-up award, while Elwyn.ai by Primeskills Edukasi Indonesia earned the second runner-up title. Additionally, Daely from Binus University won a merit award in the Tertiary Student Project category, and Storyjourney.ai earned another merit award in the Startup category.
According to Febrizal Efendi, Vice Chairman for SOE and Government Partnerships at Aspiluki, the competition showcased highly impactful categories, emphasizing AI, deep learning, and extensive research. He noted that participants from Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, and Thailand benefited from strong government support and sponsorship from private entities.
Meanwhile, Prof. Eko Kuswardono Budiardjo, one of APICTA’s judges, stated that the international competition was highly competitive. The nominees, even, should be proven in the market, thus they must have cutting-edge technology and also large market size.
Opportunities to attract investments
“President Prabowo has already emphasized that we must achieve self-reliance in all sectors. In this digital era, all sectors converge through and because of technology. Participants must excel in AI, machine learning, deep learning, comprehensive research, and big data, among other areas, as Indonesia is a vast nation,” Febrizal said.
The winners will enjoy numerous benefits, including recognition from the 17 APICTA member countries and acknowledgment by Indonesia’s Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam. They also have significant opportunities to attract investments, both domestically and internationally. Febrizal added, “We hope for more domestic investments from angel investors or other funding rounds. Certainly, we also strongly hope for President Prabowo’s support in realizing these aspirations.”
He further highlighted the importance of synergy among domestic stakeholders, including government ministries, agencies, and private entities, in ensuring the success and sustainability of ICT products. This support could come in the form of funding or other resources. The APICTA event, held since 2001, will continue in 2025 in Taiwan, the country that received many awards this year. Indonesia’s delegation will compete again under Aspiluki’s leadership at APICTA 2025 in Taiwan.
