“Over the past 10 years, during President Jokowi’s administration, infrastructure has been one of the major achievements. Minister Maruarar highlighted that the success of the infrastructure and housing projects implemented by Basuki Hadimuljono as the Minister of PUPR was due not only to his leadership but also to the tireless efforts of the Directors-General, Directors in various organizational units, and the staff of the Ministry of Public Works. He acknowledged the deep sense of pride and emotion within the ministry following the departure of Minister Basuki.
“I can understand the profound sadness felt during this transition, but I also know there is immense pride among PUPR staff for having been part of the 10 years of tremendous infrastructure development across Indonesia,” Sirait added.
Sirait, appointed to his role by President Prabowo Subianto, conveyed the pride and respect among PUPR’s stakeholders and partners for having worked alongside someone as distinguished as Basuki Hadimuljono. He recalled witnessing Hadimuljono’s hands-on approach during site visits with President Jokowi to regions such as North Maluku, South Kalimantan, Aceh, and North Sumatra, where they monitored infrastructure projects to improve the Indonesian people’s well-being.
The handover ceremony, which was held solemnly and respectfully, symbolized the high regard for Minister Basuki as a senior figure in infrastructure and housing. Minister Maruarar emphasized that this tradition of respect and harmony in leadership transitions should continue to foster a collaborative working environment for future endeavors.
