Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) in Indonesia’s new capital (IKN) has earned a Museum of World Records—Indonesia (MURI) award for the construction of the National Football Team’s training center. The Ministry utilized a modular system to construct the dormitory, accommodating the national team players during their training camp at IKN.
“The Ministry of PUPR will support the PSSI National Football Team’s training camp at IKN, one of which is by building a training center where the national team can practice,” Director General of Housing at the Ministry of PUPR, Iwan Suprijanto, said during a field visit to the PSSI Training Center at IKN recently.
According to Iwan, constructing the dormitory for the national team is critical for their training camp. For this reason, the Ministry is continuously working to build the dormitory using the latest construction technologies.
“We are implementing modular volumetric technology in constructing the PSSI National Team’s dormitory at IKN. He explained that the construction carried out by PT Adhi Karya and APG has successfully set a MURI Record as the First Training Center Construction Using a Modular System,” he explained.
On that occasion, Iwan also delivered that the MURI Record demonstrates that Indonesia’s construction workforce is capable of building high-quality infrastructure that is recognized globally. The national team’s training center at IKN also provides opportunities to develop projects using innovative technologies that benefit the nation and gain international recognition.
“This MURI Record is the first in Indonesia. We congratulate PT Adhi Karya, APG, the Kalimantan II Housing Provision Implementation Unit (BP2P), and the National Capital Housing Provision Task Force. We expect they continue to innovate and build IKN with great enthusiasm,” he added.
Iwan also mentioned that the President of Indonesia, Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo, and the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, plan to visit in mid-October to inaugurate the PSSI Training Center at IKN.
“After securing a spot in the 2025 AFC U-20 Asian Cup in China, Indonesia’s U-20 national team will train at Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan. U-20 National Team Coach Indra Sjafri and PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi confirmed that Dony Tri Pamungkas and his teammates will train at the new facility, which is planned to be the future home of the Garuda Squad.
“The U-20 National Team, which has secured its place in the 2025 AFC U-20 Asian Cup, will use the dormitory built by the Ministry of PUPR. Perhaps even some of Indonesia’s legendary national team players could visit and see the PSSI Training Center,” he added.
For information, two dormitories supported by FIFA have already been built at the PSSI Training Center in IKN. The Ministry of PUPR and PSSI are also constructing two additional dormitories next to the existing ones. According to available data, the Ministry of PUPR is building two two-story towers at the PSSI Training Center in IKN.
The total number of rooms available is 41, providing around 69 beds for players, officials, and coaches. The construction uses Mobox technology, with a sandwich panel system that simplifies the work on site. Each residential unit is equipped with furniture, including beds, mattresses, wardrobes, and bathrooms,” he explained.
“I observe that dormitories 1 and 2, built with FIFA funds, are now being refined and aligned with the design of the Directorate General of Housing at the Ministry of PUPR. We have also constructed a water reservoir similar to the MBH reservoir near the Garuda Palace, serving as a conservation site and a jogging track with an interesting route. Near the PSSI Training Center, the Mayapada Hospital has also been built as a referral hospital,” he concluded.
MURI Senior Customer Relations Manager Andre Purwandono expressed his honor of being part of the record-setting infrastructure development in IKN. However, he noted that this MURI Record is exceptional as it is a permanent record, being the first in its category, which no one can break.
“This MURI Record is for the First Training Center Construction Using a Modular System. We hope that through this initiative, all parties will synergize and support the advancement of Indonesian football, with PSSI continuing to grow and the national football team advancing to the World Cup and achieving championship success in international competitions,” he said.
