Bakery ASEAN 2026 Opens in Jakarta

On August 27, 2026, the inaugural Bakery ASEAN 2026 officially opened at Jakarta International Expo(JIExpo), Jakarta, Indonesia. As the first strategic initiative in Bakery China’s 28-year history to expand overseas as a whole, the exhibition is themed “Joining Forces in ASEAN’s Emerging Bakery Market and Embarking Together on a New Journey for Chinese Brands Going Global.” It brings together nearly three decades of industry resources, technological expertise, and brand influence accumulated by China’s bakery industry, with a strong focus on the vast and rapidly growing Southeast Asian market. The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished representatives from relevant government departments and institutions, industry organizations, and the bakery sector from both China and Indonesia. Together, they witnessed a major milestone in the transformation of China’s bakery industry—from simply exporting products to building and expanding brands in international markets.

Multiple Advantages Converge, Highlighting the Exhibition’s Strategic Value

Choosing Indonesia as the first destination for Bakery ASEAN is a natural outcome of multiple factors, including bilateral policy coordination, emerging market opportunities, complementary strengths between Chinese and international industries, and long-term strategic planning. Indonesia, the country where the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road initiative was first proposed, has closely aligned its national strategy of becoming a “Global Maritime Fulcrum” with the joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative. In 2025, Indonesia officially joined the BRICS mechanism, injecting fresh momentum into economic and trade relations between the two countries. China has been Indonesia’s largest trading partner for 13 consecutive years. As bilateral economic and trade cooperation continues to deepen, a solid policy and business environment has been established for cross-border collaboration, resource sharing, and market expansion in the China-Indonesia bakery industry.

A Full-Chain Industry Showcase, Building an International Trade Platform

The exhibition brings together a wide range of industry players from ASEAN and around the world, including bakery manufacturers, distributors, bakery chains, supermarkets, high-end hotels, and foodservice supply-chain companies. It provides a professional, diverse, and high-value platform for international business connections.Hundreds of exhibiting companies from China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and other countries and regions are showcasing their latest products and technologies, including more than 100 well-known Chinese brands. Covering the entire bakery industry chain—from ingredients, fillings, and packaging to baking equipment, cold-chain logistics, and solutions for bakery stores—the exhibition offers a comprehensive showcase of the technological innovation and brand strength of China’s bakery industry. On the opening day, professional buyers from ASEAN countries and numerous other countries and regions gathered at the exhibition, witnessing an important moment in the collaborative development of the China-ASEAN bakery industry.

Diverse Supporting Events, Driving Industry Upgrading

A wide range of concurrent events are being held alongside the exhibition, including industry summits, master classes, professional competitions, and business matchmaking sessions. The first day of ASEAN Bakery Industry Summit focuses on ” The Next Bakery Frontier: Why Indonesia is Ready for Central Kitchen, Frozen Dough and Modern Bakery Chains — From Booth to Business: How Chinese Bakery & Packaging Brands Can Win Indonesia”. It features in-depth discussions and practical sessions covering compliance and certification, supply-chain optimization, channel expansion, product innovation, and technical exchange. The World Baking Champion Class brings together world-class baking champions and chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants to

demonstrate their exceptional skills live on site. Competitions including the TRADITIONAL PASTRY & FONDANT CAKE DECORATION COMPETITION and the Indonesia national selection for the WORLD BEVERAGE MASTER CHAMPIONSHIP add further excitement to the event. New-product presentations and business matchmaking sessions also provide exhibitors with efficient platforms for networking and exploring business opportunities. From industry trends to practical technology applications, and from product innovation to taking Chinese brands global, Bakery ASEAN 2026 is using a diverse range of activities to promote deeper integration, innovation, and upgrading across the China-ASEAN bakery industry.

Connecting Supply and Demand, Building New Trade Bridges

Behind ASEAN’s rapidly growing market demand lies a structural gap in the region’s local bakery supply chains, particularly in product variety, technological and equipment capabilities, and product innovation. After nearly three decades of development, China’s bakery industry has established a comprehensive industrial chain covering everything from raw-material cultivation and advanced processing to intelligent equipment, packaging design, and digital solutions for bakery stores. It has developed significant advantages in production capacity, cost control, technological innovation, and brand operations. This highly complementary relationship between supply and demand lies at the heart of the creation of Bakery ASEAN 2026. The exhibition is designed to create an efficient channel connecting high-quality Chinese suppliers with end-market demand across ASEAN. It not only provides buyers in Indonesia and Southeast Asia with a convenient one-stop platform for sourcing cutting-edge Chinese bakery products and solutions, but also gives Chinese brands a practical platform for entering local markets and connecting directly with distributors, bakery chains, and foodservice channels. On the opening day, professional buyers from ASEAN countries and other regions around the world engaged in intensive discussions with exhibitors. The strong interaction between buyers and suppliers demonstrated the timeliness and effectiveness of the platform in connecting market demand with industry supply.

A New Starting Point, A New Journey Ahead

Bakery China has crossed borders and transformed itself from a global hub for the bakery industry into a key engine supporting Southeast Asia’s industry upgrading and empowering Chinese brands to expand into international markets. The successful opening of the inaugural Bakery ASEAN 2026 is not only an important gateway for the high-level opening-up of China’s bakery industry chain, but also a valuable platform for domestic Chinese bakery companies seeking to move beyond intense competition in the domestic market and tap into the growing Southeast Asian market. Looking ahead, Bakery ASEAN will continue to deepen its presence in Southeast Asia, opening new chapters in deeper cooperation and mutually beneficial development between the Chinese and ASEAN bakery industries.
