Heaptalk, Jakarta — To secure the food self-sufficiency program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto, the Ministry of Agriculture has collaborated with the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) to promote the digitalization and modernization of agriculture.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono stated that digitalization and modernization through spatial data greatly assist farmers in production, especially in accessing targeted subsidized fertilizers. “Spatial data is very helpful and is part of the solution for farmers, such as fertilizers, and in increasing agricultural productivity,” said Sudaryono at the Ministry of Agriculture Building on Friday (10/25).

Spatial data is an essential part of the current program. Besides digitalization and mechanization, this data is also crucial for monitoring and evaluating various agricultural programs. Sudaryono added, “This is our plan for digitalization, especially for monitoring, which must also be modern. When we talk about vision, it is already clear; the mission is clear, and the program is good. The important thing is monitoring all the program’s vision and mission because we want to be a solution for all the people.”
Regarding this matter, Sudaryono wants the Ministry of Agriculture and BIG to find answers to the multiple problems faced by farmers. Therefore, data and monitoring results are very much needed. “We have to do something that can provide solutions using technology and give the right solutions to many people,” he emphasized.
On the other hand, Muh Aris Marfai, Head of BIG, expressed his readiness to implement various directives from the Deputy Minister of Agriculture to realize food self-sufficiency. “In the food self-sufficiency effort, we need to think about land intensification, including acquiring new agricultural lands. That’s where spatial data becomes important to obtain them,” Muh Aris Marfai concluded.
