Kasmidi Bulang confirmed the bonus disbursement following a request for an agreement with the athletes who won medals at the Provincial Sports Week 2022.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kutai Regency Government through the Youth and Sports Department (Dispora) has decided to provide an achievement bonus of Rp15 billion, equivalent to US$990,145 (US$1 is worth Rp15,149) for athletes who won medals at the East Kalimantan Provincial Sports Week VII in Berau.
This news was confirmed by the leader of the East Kutai Contingent, Vice Regent Kasmidi Bulang, as reported by ProKutim. The bonus will be given directly to the athletes, not through the coaches.
“Disbursement of bonuses to outstanding athletes will soon be carried out by direct transfer of the amount to each athlete’s personal account by the East Kutai Regency Government,” said Kasmidi quoted by ProKutim.
Previously, Kasmidi had requested a formal written agreement between the East Kutai Regency Government, the Youth and Sports Department, and the East Kutai Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) with the athletes.
Agreement between the Regency Govt and athletes
He further conveyed, “This bonus will only be received by eligible athletes and may not be represented by other people. We want an agreement between the Regency Government and the athletes, that the athletes will continue to compete for East Kutai.” In addition, this step was taken to prevent local East Kutai athletes from being taken over by other regions.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the East Kutai KONI Rudi Hartono announced that the document filing of all sports branches by the East Kutai Youth and Sports Department had been completed. Previously, there were 5 out of 50 sports that had not completed document filing. Rudi hopes that the verification process by the Department can be carried out immediately to disburse the bonuses this month.
Out of a total of 50 sports that the East Kutai contingent participated in last year’s competition, there were 441 outstanding athletes who won 125 gold medals, 140 silver medals, and 176 bronze medals.
