KarirLab has clocked in hundreds of thousands of users and posted thousands of jobs from hundreds of diverse organizations across Indonesia in the first semester of 2023.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — KarirLab, an online platform connecting students and campuses with hiring employees, announced its pre-seed funding round for an undisclosed amount from Alpha JWC and M Venture Partners (MVP), with participation from angel investors.
According to the startup, this pre-seed round will enable KarirLab to expedite its product development, team expansion, and strategic partnership establishment with leading universities and employers. The company will also use the fund to fuel the platform enhancement, ensuring seamless student and employer experience to cater to the evolving needs of the job market.
General Partner of Alpha JWC Ventures, Jefrey Joe, revealed Indonesia is entering the demographic bonus period. KarirLab is strategically positioned to be a driving force in shaping the modern talent ecosystem in the country as the company’s comprehensive approach places them in a prime position to connect millions of students and universities by advancing growth partners for career service to bridge the critical gap in the talent market.
“We take great pride in our investment in KarirLab’s pre-seed funding round to empower them to accelerate its enhancement. Through these efforts, the startup will pave the way for a more seamless and efficient talent ecosystem in the archipelago,” added Joe.
Simultaneously, the Head of the Career Development Center University of Indonesia, Sandra Fikawati, also viewed that one of the key challenges in preparing students for the job market is the unequal access to information and lack of professional counsel.
With the backing of this fund, KarirLab aims to revolutionize the career management platform and drive meaningful change in the higher education and job sector. The startup also seeks to integrate AI-based innovations to develop more personalized career development apps.
Founded by Tessa Saraswati, Stephanus Wicardo, and William Surya Wijaya, the company aims to help students build a solid foundation in navigating the job market, such as having an effective resume and professional branding as early as possible.
“The hardship of early career recruiting is a pain point shared by many parties. With this pre-seed fund, we will fulfill our potential in partnering with universities and employers at scale. We are excited to empower the next generation of young professionals and elevate career services and management in Indonesia to propel more quality graduates and career opportunities,”
Aiming to bridge the existing gap in the job market, KarirLab targets millions of active university, polytechnic, and other higher-education institutions students and fresh graduates. Offering individual profile evaluation, an ATS-friendly resume builder, career centers, a curated job vacancy portal, and talent management services, the company has clocked in hundreds of thousands of users and posted thousands of jobs from hundreds of diverse organizations across Indonesia in the first half of 2023.
On the other hand, this job-search startup has hosted numerous live and virtual career events in collaboration with universities with more than 20,000 participants, such as KarirFest by KarirLab and UI Career Internship Scholarship Expo 2023, and various partnerships with government, employers, and leading campuses in Indonesia.
