Heaptalk, Jakarta — Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) VII East Kalimantan 2022 is officially opened by Governor Isran Noor at the Teluk Bayur Mini Olympic Stadium (11/26). The quadrennial sports event is participated by ten regencies/cities throughout East Kalimantan.
East Kutai sent the second largest contingent, namely 1,437 participants. The first largest contingent was sent by the host Berau, namely 1,539 participants. Vice Regent Kasmidi Bulang who is also the leader of the East Kutai contingent reminded all athletes competing in the Provincial Sports Week to stay focused on the competition and maintain their health.
“We hope that this Provincial Sports Week can run well according to the schedule. Hopefully, East Kutai athletes can give their best to achieve the target,” said Kasmidi. For some of the East Kutai flagship sports that will be competed, he asked all representatives of sports to boost the medal tally to achieve the desired target.
“When East Kutai became the host, the medal tally did not immediately rank at the top but rose slowly. Based on reports, East Kutai has not yet reached its target, but our opportunities are still open as we have several sports that have not yet been completed,” said Kasmidi.
Meanwhile, Governor Isran Noor said that the Provincial Sports Week is expected to bring a positive impact on the people’s economy, specifically during the post-pandemic.
“This is the appropriate moment to maintain a good relationship as well as to embody honesty and sportsmanship,” said Isran. Further, he expected the Provincial Sports Week can become a shared responsibility for all East Kalimantan residents.
