Heaptalk, Jakarta — Telkomsel, Indonesia’s digital telecommunication company, has partnered strategically with Tencent Cloud and MCASH to explore adopting palm-scanning biometric technology, which is expected to enhance customer service.
“We are integrating cutting-edge palm-scanning technology to elevate customer comfort, speed, and security. This innovation underscores Telkomsel’s commitment to leveraging the latest technologies to create convenience and positively impact our customers while supporting Indonesia’s competitiveness in the digital era, ” said Adiwinahyu Basuki Sigit, the company’s sales director.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in Jakarta, sets the stage for the three companies to explore the potential of palm-scanning technology for customer identification. This biometric solution identifies individuals by mapping unique patterns in their palms, such as veins, fingerprints, and skin textures. The primary application will streamline Know Your Customer (KYC) processes, making them faster, more secure, and user-friendly.
In more detail, Telkomsel, Tencent Cloud, and MCASH are combining their expertise to develop and implement the Palm Scanner. Telkomsel brings its extensive telecommunications infrastructure and customer reach; Tencent Cloud contributes its advanced technological capabilities, particularly in cloud computing and AI; and MCASH leverages its role as a tech enabler with a robust digital ecosystem.
With their respective capability, this strategic cooperation aims to enhance customer service efficiency, security, and convenience, streamline KYC processes for Telkomsel’s services and B2B solutions, and drive digital innovation and operational excellence across industries.
“By combining our expertise with Telkomsel and Tencent Cloud, we aim to deliver a transformative identity verification solution. This partnership reaffirms our commitment to pioneering innovative and impactful digital solutions for the Indonesian market.” Martin Suharlie, President Director of MCASH, conveyed.
According to the company, Palm scanning offers significant advantages over traditional biometric solutions:
- Accuracy and Convenience: Palm scanning is unaffected by factors like identical twins or crowd interference.
- Error Minimization: Focusing on hand patterns reduces the risks of false positives.
- Technology Agnosticism: Its compatibility across diverse hardware, software, and platforms simplifies implementation.
From now on, Telkomsel plans to deploy the Palm Scanner technology across its customer service environments and B2B solutions. This initiative aims to boost operational efficiency and offer a secure, innovative customer experience.
“Palm-scanning technology represents a leap forward in efficiency and user convenience, and we are eager to contribute to Indonesia’s digital ecosystem’s sustainability and strength.” Jimmy Chen, VP of Tencent Cloud International & Business Director of Tencent Cloud APAC, said.
