Heaptalk, Jakarta — The government is gradually restoring public services following a disruption at the National Data Center (PDN) server managed by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo).
Minister of Communication and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi further assured the public that his technical team is working hard to address the issue and expedite recovery to normalize public services gradually. “We are currently restoring services gradually,” said Budi in Jakarta (06/20).
The disruption, suspected to have been caused by cyberattacks, has affected several integrated national service applications. Although Budi did not explain the exact matter, he denied that cyberattacks have led to this disruption.
Long queues at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport
One of the public services significantly impacted is immigration services at airports. The Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights revealed that all domestic immigration services were affected by the disruption on June 20, 2024. The public complained about long queues at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport through social media platform X.
“Currently, there is a system disruption at the National Data Center, affecting all immigration services,” wrote the Directorate General of Immigration on its official Instagram account (06/20).
The Directorate General of Immigration then explained that all government agencies, not solely the immigration sector, use the National Data Center to store and manage data. The immigration authorities stated that they would provide updates once the PDN system is operational again.
Currently, the National Data Center used by ministries, agencies, and local governments is a temporary cloud-based National Data Center. Presidential Regulation Number 132 of 2022 on Electronic-Based Government Systems (SPBE) mandates the provision of this temporary national data center. Through the Temporary National Data Center, migrating government agency data centers is expected to proceed gradually.
The construction of the first National Data Center in Cikarang, West Java, is underway and is expected to be completed this year. The government plans to build National Data Centers in Batam and the new capital, Nusantara.
