Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s EV startup, MAKA Motors, unveils its first domestically designed electric motorcycle, the MAKA Cavalry. This milestone underscores MAKA Motors’ commitment to reshaping the riding experience for Indonesian consumers and enhancing the regional EV ecosystem.
The MAKA Cavalry arrives as the EV market surges globally, and Indonesia strives to align with sustainable transportation trends. The motorcycle is tailored to cater to the distinct demands of Indonesian riders and the country’s diverse terrains, blending performance with endurance and practicality. As the nation intensifies its focus on sustainability and local manufacturing, the MAKA Cavalry’s introduction marks a significant stride in advancing automotive technology and energy efficiency.

Designed for Indonesia’s unique urban mobility challenges, the MAKA Cavalry boasts a range of 160 km per charge, supported by a 4 kWh battery and a Hi-Regen mode to optimize energy use. It features a top speed of 105 km/h, swift acceleration from 0 to 60 km/h in 4.8 seconds, and is built to handle inclines up to 30 degrees. The motorcycle includes a 20-liter storage space, USB charging ports, hybrid brakes, and a reverse function, offering a well-rounded, rider-friendly package.
“The MAKA Cavalry embodies our vision of delivering electric motorcycles that are reliable, high-performing, and comfortable for Indonesia’s varied road conditions,” Raditya Wibowo, Founder & CEO of MAKA Motors, said.
Furthermore, the MAKA Cavalry is powered by proprietary technologies, including the high-capacity Intercellar™ battery, the Revium™ dynamo, and the Osiris™ controller. These components ensure high performance and efficiency, rivaling traditional gasoline motorcycles but with a reduced environmental footprint. Fast-charging options enhance riders’ convenience, with the MAKA Charger+ significantly reducing charge times.
“Our in-house R&D capabilities allow us to create innovative technologies tailored to Indonesia’s unique riding conditions. The combination of the Intercellar™ battery, Revium™ dynamo, and Osiris™ controller ensures that MAKA Cavalry is ready to set new benchmarks in performance and efficiency. The motorcycle reflects the spirit of Indonesian riders, combining sleek design with practical features. It’s built to resonate with our market and stand out on the roads,” Arief Fadillah, Co-Founder & CTO of MAKA Motors, said.
In a significant boost to its ambitions, MAKA Motors raised $37.6 million in seed funding in 2023, with prominent backers like AC Ventures, East Ventures, and South Korea’s SV Investment. This funding round is among the largest for a hardware startup in Southeast Asia, underscoring the automotive startup’s pioneering status in Indonesia’s EV sector.
