East Kalimantan worker protection program reaches 10,000 East Kutai residents. The Regency plans to cover more workers who are not included in the program.

Heaptalk, Jakarta — East Kutai Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman attended the launch of the protection program for 100,000 vulnerable workers as a result of the collaboration between the East Kalimantan Provincial Government and the Social Security Agency (BPJS) for Employment. The event was inaugurated by East Kalimantan Governor Isran Noor at the Odah Etam Building, Governor’s Office Area (07/05).

The event was also packed with a number of other activities, one of which was the conferment of the Panitrana Awards to regional heads and business actors who have supported the implementation of protection for the community, specifically vulnerable workers.

Ardiansyah explained that around 10,000 East Kutai residents were registered as beneficiaries of the vulnerable worker protection program, along with other beneficiaries from ten regencies/cities in East Kalimantan. He said, “Actually we proposed 25,000, but that doesn’t matter. We will cover the rest that is not included in this program.”

Further, Ardiansyah stated that he would involve multiple parties, including companies operating in East Kutai, to contribute to the success of the worker protection program initiated by the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan.

“Thank God, we have provided not only BPJS for Employment but also other assistance, for example, the incentives we have allocated for Al Qur’an teachers, doja (mosque custodians), development clergies including for the community who also have a role for development in East Kutai,” he uttered. In addition, according to Ardiansyah, the grant of this Employment BPJS is an opportunity to provide certainty for the welfare of vulnerable workers.

Meanwhile, the Head of East Kutai BPJS for Employment Agus Sutejo expressed his appreciation for the East Kutai Regency Government which has included all 6,500 honorary workers to be registered as Employment BPJS participants.
