Heaptalk, Jakarta — Trade Ministry returns to appreciate Indonesia’s innovation, particularly for design, to enhance Indonesian product competitiveness around the world through Good Design Indonesia (GDI) 2024. During the agenda, Trade Minister Budi Santoso handed the plaque directly to a total of 34 products that showcase the best and most sustainable designs.
“The product design is part of a resource-based export strategy, and the downstream concept also should be designed. Further, we have to prove that our product has a good design and showcases our identity, thus allowing it to be accepted in the global market,” stated Trade Minister Budi Santoso.
During the agenda, 24 products managed to seize the Good Design category, and 10 products won the Best Design category. Meanwhile, one product, namely M-Tex from PT Kurva Lonceng Khatulistiwa, successfully holds the title of Best Design of The Year.
In addition to competing in Indonesia, the GDI participants were also involved in the Good Design Award in Japan, which was held from 7 to 9 August 2024. As a result, 10 products successfully won the awards. Meanwhile, M-Tex also successfully won G-Mark, the best product design award from the Good Design Award Japan.
Opening the 2025 GDI competition, Minister Budi Santoso delivered his optimism towards the growth and innovation of Indonesian product to compete in the global market.
“By adopting the theme ‘Good Design, Good Impact’ with ‘Sustainability and Adaptive Design’ as the sub-theme, Indonesian designer is expected to deliver more benefits for the country’s future through product transformation which offers value-added and adopts sustainability concept, thus it can be recognized worldwide,” voiced Minister Budi Santoso.
