Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is organizing the Wirausaha Digital Mandiri Ekonomi Kreatif (Widuri Ekraf) 2024. This event encourages local creative economy players to be endlessly creative, allowing them to advance and enter the global market chain.
At the Widuri Ekraf 2024 Networking Night, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, in his virtual speech, said that with the growth of the creative industry in the digital era, intellectual property has become a necessity that must be addressed. The networking night, which carried the theme ‘From Local to Global,’ occurred at the Movenpick Hotel Jakarta City Centre, Jakarta.
“The creation of intellectual property must continue to be encouraged to motivate entrepreneurs in the creative industry to develop limitless creativity. I hope all participants of Widuri Ekraf 2024 become pioneers in elevating the value of Indonesia’s creative economy, continuing to grow from local to global,” said Sandiaga.
Deputy for Resources and Institutions of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Martini M. Paham, commonly called Diah, emphasized the importance of protecting intellectual property (IP) to prevent piracy and copyright infringement. “IP not only protects works but can also be monetized and become a significant source of income through licensing, merchandising, and other derivative products, which can provide substantial economic benefits and become valuable assets for creators,” Diah said.
Fahmy Akmal, Director of Creative Economy Human Resources Development at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, stated that this event is a meeting and an opportunity for the 16 selected business participants to collaborate with other stakeholders. “We are giving opportunities to those in animation, games, and content creation to present their projects so they can collaborate with creative industry stakeholders, ensuring sustainability and ongoing development through established partnerships,” said Fahmy.
Fahmy hopes this event can serve as a bridge for Indonesian creative players to develop further, especially when entering the business world and strengthening the creative economy. “The hope is that the creative economy players who have been facilitated will gain capacity enhancement and meet potential partners. We also invited potential partners from local and international industries,” added Fahmy.
Networking Night, part of the Widuri Ekraf event series, marks the completion of all stages of the Widuri Ekraf 2024 program. The stages that have been completed include an open call, offline training in seven cities (Depok, Bandung, Solo, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Malang, and South Tangerang), and one month of online mentoring to create teasers, business pitch decks, and business plans.
