For instance, local tourists preferred to stay with their relative’s; with the trip duration for 1-1,5 hour, more than 60 percent local tourists used private vehicles and millennial women dominated as the local tourists.
“And tourism within the City/Regency and outside the City/Regency within the province have become the most popular choice compared to other destinations. Natural tourism like mountains, zoos, and family cuisine are still the most favorite ones,” said the Minister.
Conversely, under this opportunity, Head of the Tourism Department for Bali Province, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, elaborated that foreign tourists visiting Bali until the end of 2023 reached a total of 5.328.238 people. This exceeds the target set by Minister Sandiaga for 4,5 million visitors. In addition, local tourists that visited Bali reached a total of 9.877.911.
Tjok Bagus also explained the situation in Bali during the Christmas and New Year concerning the traffic that took place along the route to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. He explained that there were a number of souvenir center locations that have restricted parking space availability, which then allocated a portion of the road for parking purposes.
“With the previous traffic experience, that surely became an evaluation for us so that such an uneventful experience would not be repeated again, if we compare the number of vehicles at the end of the year. Honestly, the number of vehicles in Christmas was a lot higher, but as the Transportation Minister stated, there were still some souvenir center locations that have limited parking space availability that also took the road for parking purposes, we definitely took note from it,” concluded Tjok Bagus.
