Heaptalk, Jakarta — At the ASEAN Digital Awards 2025, held in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday (01/16), Indonesian startups stole the spotlight by winning nine out of 18 awards, including four gold, three silver, and two bronze medals. Most award winners are startups partnered with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs through the digital mentorship program.
“This victory proves that Indonesia’s startup ecosystem is growing rapidly and able to compete internationally. We are very proud to see the hard work of the start-up players who have brought honor to the nation,” said Meutya Hafid, Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, on Saturday (01/18).
The agenda is an award event given to organizations, businesses, and individuals who have pioneered innovative products or services and contributed significantly to the digital landscape in Southeast Asia. Formerly known as the ASEAN ICT Awards, it was rebranded to the ASEAN Digital Awards. Last year, Indonesia won five awards in this event.
Professor Eko K. Budiardjo, a Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science, University of Indonesia, expressed his appreciation for this achievement. According to Eko, this success is the highest achievement in the digital field for Indonesia in the Southeast Asian region. “This victory shows that Indonesia’s digital innovation has reached a highly competitive level,” said Eko, who also served as one of the judges at the ASEAN Digital Awards 2025 in Bangkok.
