Heaptalk, Jakarta — Embracing Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (Embracing JMFW) 2021 was officially held on Friday (18/11) in Aquatic Stadium, Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta. Adopting the theme “Local Brand for Global Market”, the event was held to invite all parties to unite, making Indonesia the world Muslim fashion icon for the sake of the national economic advance.
The Ministry of Trade and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) realized that Indonesia has tremendous potential in the fashion industry, particularly in Muslim fashion. The view is inseparable from the fact that Indonesia is the fourth-most populous country and inhabited by the largest Muslim population in the World.
The huge market potential of the archipelago, unfortunately, has not been completely well-benefitted by the nation. Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi uttered that Indonesia holds US$11 billion of Muslim fashion market potential. Ironically, the country only covered solely US$500 million, or around 4.5% of the total market (18/11).
Derives from the data, Trade Ministry and KADIN comprehended that the Country must have a major breakthrough to seize this business potential in order to increase Indonesian’s welfare. Yet, in performing this movement, both of these two government institutions truly believed that they could not conduct it alone, the involvement of all parties is indispensable.
The notion led the authorities to take a vast leap, namely by organizing JMFW that is planned to be held in October 2022. However, to succeed in the agenda, a great strategy should be applied. As the preparation to flourish the plan, Embracing JMFW was held as a call for all parties – private sector, scholar, association, and authority – to collaborate, pour their entire spirit to triumph JMFW on the upcoming year to boost Indonesia’s Muslim fashion industry.
“The collaboration between the private sector, scholar, associations, combined with the ecosystem built by the Government, is critical. It will assist Indonesia to reach its vision, namely to become the world Muslim fashion capital for advancing the Country.” Luthfi said in a statement (18/11)
