Heaptalk, Jakarta — Embracing Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week 2021 has already been held in Senayan, Jakarta (18/11). Various fashion schools exhibited their creations to prove that Indonesia has plenty of potentials to amplify Muslim fashion to the global market and determine as a Muslim fashion icon worldwide.
Several series of the festival in Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week are presented for the Muslim fashion enthusiasts. The most highlighted series of events is the fashion show parade which performs 39 designer works and brands consisting of 12 Muslim brands, 12 contemporary brands, and 15 upcoming designers from numerous fashion schools.
Fifteen fashion schools competed in enlivening The JMFW. There are Jakarta Arts Institute, ISI Denpasar, Islamic Fashion Institute, Academy of Fine Arts and Design ISWI, Institute of Indonesian Cultural Arts (ISBI) Bandung, Jakarta Creative Media State Polytechnic, Bali Institute of Design and Business, Ibn Khaldun University Bogor, School of College of Indonesian Design (STDI) Bandung, Petra Christian University Surabaya, Polytechnic STTT Bandung, Telkom University, LaSalle College Jakarta, Ciputra University Surabaya, and Maranatha Christian University. Each of the representatives of fashion schools proved their potential by dedicating Muslim fashion patterns with peculiar and the latest themes.
Nadiem Anwar Makarim, The Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of The Republic of Indonesia (Mendikbudristek), attended to contribute his opening speech regarding the event. He appreciated the work of students from the fifteen schools exhibited at the JMFW. “We all should be proud because we have a reliable prospective fashion designer who will promote Indonesian Muslim culture to the world through their works,” said Nadiem in a statement during the speech.
Furthermore, Anne Patricia Sutanto, Vice Chairwomen of Indonesia Fashion Muslim Fashion Promotion Committee, said that the presence of this event has built from the collaboration of various religions. In line with Anne’s statement, Nadiem stated that it is an honor that Indonesian diversity is reflected in the JMFW Festival. He also added, “The creativity and innovation of several religious communities be able to turn into a reality. The composite of these elements is harmonious and can be discovered all around us, from mosque buildings to clothing designs.”
On the other hand, the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology has granted numerous efforts to align the working environment to schools or universities. Nadiem revealed his explanation in a statement, “we have presented numerous sets of collaboration schemes between work surroundings, vocational schools, and vocational colleges, holistically and rootedly, we have executed to define what is a link in match,”
According to Nadiem, JMFW is a gateway to start reinforcing collaboration between the academic and the business in the fashion sector, “with this cooperation that advances the world of fashion, and I assure Indonesia will become a trendsetter for Muslim fashion in the world shortly. Let us carry on with collaborating to develop creative fashion works,” said Nadiem in his closing speech.
