Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia aspires to be golden in 2045 and become a developed country. The World Bank also forecasts that the archipelago will become the fourth-largest economic power in the world. Given the country’s ambition and potential, cross-industry collaboration and cross-border cooperation are critical aspects that should be promoted. To cope with this issue, the digital conference Edge Hong Kong Indonesia Digital Summit was held to foster solid relationships and create a forum for exchanging ideas and projects between two of Asia’s largest economies.
The three-day exclusive conference, which took place at AYANA Midplaza, Jakarta, from October 17th to 19th, 2024, involved multiple technology practitioners, such as founders, investors, and senior executives from numerous leading companies.
The Founder of Edge Summit, Andrew, said, “We hope this Summit can serve as a space for exchanging ideas and cooperating on future digital projects. Jakarta excites me because of its diversity. We look forward to the Summit will bring together delegates with cross-border initiatives,”
He also further conveyed that the summit is dedicated to a platform where digital companies based in Hong Kong and Indonesia can continuously engage in the coming years.
In its implementation, Edge Summit addressed several critical high-demand topics during the three-day event, including Web3.0 , e-commerce, and venture capital. He emphasized the relevance of these discussions, particularly for Indonesia’s rapidly growing digital market.
“We are focusing on how Indonesia’s e-payment sector continues to improve. There are significant opportunities for collaboration, particularly with resources from Hong Kong, to work on cross-border payments. This matter remains our priority before driving into more futuristic innovations,” he explained.
Furthermore, Andrew revealed that the Summit’s critical goal is to promote cross-sector cooperation and create new business models that address local challenges. He perceived that the innovation resulting from this cooperation should be imported from outside and tailored to Indonesia’s specific requirements.
“We want to drive relevant innovation to Indonesia, not just copying technology from abroad,” he conveyed.
Visit Indonesia’s Silicon Valley
One of the Summit’s highlights is visiting Correctio by Jababeka in CIkarang, an area designed to serve as Indonesia’s Silicon Valley ecosystem. The visit aims to showcase to Hong Kong delegates how industrial innovation and digital development can complement each other.
“Cikarang is home to numerous industries and impressive factories. When we talk about digitalization, we can not ignore the significance of physical products. The visit offers Hong Kong’s business community an opportunity to see how innovation is evolving in Indonesia’s industrial sector,” Andrew concluded.
For the upcoming plan, the Edge Hong Kong Indonesia Digital Summit is expected to become an annual event, continually fostering robust digital relations between Hong Kong and Indonesia and opening up new avenues for strategic collaboration in the future. Succeeding in attracting about 200 attendees, the Co-Founder of Edge Summit, April Lam, said the Summit will be expanded into multiple countries.
“While this agenda focuses on Hong Kong and Indonesia, we aim to expand to Greater China, Taipei, and other Asian countries moving forward,” April affirmed.
