Heaptalk, Jakarta – The first ever edge| Hong Kong-Indonesia Digital Summit was successfully organized from 17 to 19 October 2024 at AYANA Ballroom, Mid Plaza, Jakarta. This exclusive B2B summit is claimed to attract about 200 delegates, spanning founders, investors, senior executives, global companies and promising startups to foster bilateral business exchange between Hong Kong and Indonesia.
“This time, for a three-day summit, we have got about 200 participants. Indonesia becomes the biggest, in terms of participant numbers. There are also delegates from Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Thailand and Korea” stated April Lam, the Co-Founder of edge Summit on Friday (18/10).
Organized this agenda in Jakarta, April revealed the reason why Indonesia was opted as the venue. She explained that the archipelago will be a regional market leader in terms of economy and innovation. This is driven by the fact that Indonesia is home to more than 2400 startups, the highest number among the SEA countries. Besides, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicted that Indonesia would be the fourth largest economic country in the world.

Based on this data, the bilateral business summit was created to capture a strong demand from the private sectors, governments, and trade association to see more bilateral activities between different places. The organizing of this digital summit is also expected to link Indonesia’s potency with Hong Kong’s capacity, which is known as the investment hub.
To assist delegates in building connections, the organizer has prepared enticing activities, such as gala dinner, symposium dinner, roundtable session, and also presentation from multiple experts about the trend in venture capital, e-commerce, fintech, and cross-border payment.
April mentioned that about 30 delegates from the Indonesia-Hong Kong Business Association and the Indonesia Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong flew directly to Indonesia to attend this agenda.
“The summit also was participated by Hong Kong’s businessmen who have been based in Indonesia, but they may have different targets. Those who have been here are familiar with the culture and the business regulations, but they still want to know more about the market trend and how they can further tap into the digitalization and economic growth in Indonesia. Those from Hong Kong may look for more entry knowledge, such as who they should talk to and which organizations that could help them for certain things. So, we try to build this platform to cover all of this demand”, explained April.
