Heaptalk, Jakarta — The International Creative Industry Conference & Festival 2024 (IC Fest 2024) officially opened on Thursday (09/26) at the Innovation and Creativity Center of Gadjah Mada University. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno stated that this event, through the side event Akatara, brings local filmmakers together with potential investors.
According to Sandiaga Uno, Akatara is an integral part of Indonesia’s film ecosystem, serving as a talent pool and intellectual property (IP) for investors, big studios, brands, and non-commercial institutions.
“Akatara is part of the side events at IC Fest 2024. We connect films—short films, feature films, and even animated films—with distribution channels and investment,” said Sandiaga after reviewing Akatara at the Innovation and Creativity Center of Gadjah Mada University on Thursday (09/26).
Akatara, which takes place during IC Fest 2024 from September 26 to 28, showcases 30 curated film projects, including Baby Zu, Ayam Goreng Pak Cecep, and The Wisdom of Longevity. Through Akatara’s presence, Sandiaga said that industry players could meet, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations. He said, “They are allowed to pitch, and we help facilitate the search for funding.”
On this occasion, the Minister also visited the Creative Exhibition, another side event of IC Fest 2024. This exhibition features creative economy players who present creative projects and innovative solutions representing subsectors of the creative economy (such as film, gaming, animation, and music) and other related industries.
The exhibition includes 30 exhibitors, consisting of central and local governments, associations, academics, business players, and event promoters. During the event, Lego, one of the exhibitors at IC Fest 2024, displayed a model of the Borobudur Temple made from Lego bricks.
