Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) will establish a cybersecurity task force following an incident at the National Data Center (PDN) soon as reported by Antara (07/09).

This task force will focus on cybersecurity in response to the negative impacts of rapidly growing technological innovations. The new entity is expected to start its duties this year, coinciding with the increasing frequency of cyber attacks. “We want to gather stakeholders to provide input to the government, especially on cases related to cybersecurity,” stated Muhammad Arif, Chairman of APJII in Jakarta, as quoted by Antara (07/09).

APJII has 1,087 internet service provider members. In addition to supporting the equal distribution of internet access through the organization and deployment of digital infrastructure, the members are also starting to develop support for its utilization and ensure the security of Indonesia’s cyberspace.

Cybersecurity has become an inseparable part of internet development. Therefore, the APJII Task Force on Cybersecurity was initiated to become a collaborative partner in achieving the Vision of Digital Indonesia 2045. The association aims to include representatives from the government in the cybersecurity task force, not just relying on its members. This way, collaboration in maintaining Indonesia’s cyberspace can be more optimal.

“We want this task force to not only consist of private sector representatives but also advisors or experts from the government, possibly from the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo), the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and other representatives, resulting in better-reasoned input we provide,” Arif concluded.
