Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has presented an award for 50 regencies or cities in Indonesia for the incredible regional master plan arrangement through the peak of the Smart City development agenda (12/01).
Emphasizing six dimensions of the Smart City program, this award is also devoted to the participants of several sub-districts of Indonesia’s provinces with the excellent result, including Bandung for the best Smart Governance category, Surakarta for the most fantastic Smart Branding category, Semarang for the most excellent Smart Economy category, Yogyakarta for the most special Smart Society category, Demak for the finest Smart Living category, and Wonogiri for the National Priority Tourism Area category.
The Smart City 2022 initiatives look forward to the contribution of the regional government, investors, and private sectors. As delivered by the Director of Government Informatics Application Services (LAIP) of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Bambang Dwi Anggono, If previously this initiative was driven by the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD), this year, he pursued the investors and private sector practitioners to collaborate with the regional government to generate better public service.
According to his statement, currently, the Smart City program in 2022 has absorbed around 200 participants from diverse Indonesia sub-districts and is anticipated to continue to augment 50 regencies in the coming 2023.
“We aim to encourage the entire districts of Indonesia’s provinces to participate in a Smart City program. Thus, Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology would stimulate a regional planning harmonization to possess a development focus devoted to society. Afterward, the Ministry of Communication, accompanied by other government institutions, intend to optimize the exceptional programs of each region, expecting to deliver advantages for the community,” Bambang added.
During the occasion, Bambang also affirmed the Ministry had expanded a 100 Smart City 2022 program for the Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP) areas, becoming the National Priority Tourism Area (KPPN) and the new Nation’s Capital (IKN).
“We are not solely to arrange the IKN’s masterplan, yet establish its buffer areas into a master plan ecosystem. We have performed this strategy this year and have supervised this implementation. To date, we have received many initiatives from foreign investors to cooperate in the IKN’s SMART City,” Bambang said.
As it is known, this agenda is a closing series of Smart City program for around 141 regencies or cities that has implemented a Smart City program for the region’s development. Bambang revealed that Smart City is a strategic effort to holistically address Indonesia’s district development. He expects the local government could amplify strategic alliances with business practitioners, academists, and society to showcase Smart City’s primary pillars.
In the coming of 2023, the Director of LAIP Bambang also conveyed to establish a Smart Province implementation. This program will select two of Indonesia’s provinces in arranging the master plan for the 2023 period.
“The Smart Province development would emphasize a province-level development formulation and coordinate a Smart City at the sub-district level within the province areas. We aim to elect two provinces to guide the regional masterplan arrangement. Thus, we expect the regional head to continue to generate breakthroughs for community fulfillment,” Bambang said.
