Through the launch of this export warehouse, Shopee aims to enhance its local sellers to 500,000 partners by 2030.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — Shopee Indonesia has officially opened its new export warehouse in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, to facilitate more local products exported through the Shopee Export Program.
Inaugurated by Indonesia’s Minister of Trade, Zulkifli ‘Zulhas‘ Hasan, he appreciated the steps of this e-commerce company which has increased the capacity of Indonesian MSMEs through educational programs for more than 80,000 MSMEs. He looks forward to the e-commerce ecosystem evolving to back Indonesia’s MSMEs expanding their business in the international market.”
According to the company, more than 20 million local MSME products have joined the program through a cross-border mechanism and expanded their business in multiple countries, spanning Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines), East Asia (Taiwan), and Latin America, with the fashion products as the most dominant products ordered. Through the launch of this warehouse, this giant e-commerce platform aims to enhance its local sellers to 500,000 partners by 2030.
The inauguration of Shopee Indonesia’s export warehouse was also along with an increase in Shopee export value by 30% this year. Shopee’s export program has been proven to facilitate local MSMEs to export their products.
After receiving an order from a buyer from another country, MSMEs only need to send their products to the Shopee export warehouse because the product delivery process and management operations will be carried out at the warehouse to the export destination country.
In its operations, the Shopee export warehouse has several areas that must be passed to export products, spanning the Goods Receiving Area (Export Inbound Line, Inbound Area, and X-Ray Area), Collection Area (Sorting Area, Bagging Area, and Export Staging Area), to the Goods Delivery Area for Export (Export Outbound Line).
However, the construction of the Shopee export warehouse is only intended for the Jakarta area due to the load of goods considerations. This company has yet to make plans to construct the second phase of the new export warehouse as long as the facility can still accommodate the load of products to be exported. As the Director and Country Head of Sea Group Indonesia, Kiky Hapsari, This warehouse can process around 10,000 – 20,000 orders daily.
“This warehouse is a supporting infrastructure for the export program that Shopee has managed. With the presence of this new export warehouse facility, we expect to simplify more local MSMEs to broaden their business in the global market.” Kiky said in her statement.
