Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s President, Prabowo Subianto, and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka have renamed the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) to the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi). This amendment underscores the government’s commitment to advancing Indonesia’s digital agenda.
In a statement, Deputy Minister of Komdigi Nezar Patria emphasized the renaming and highlighted the Indonesian government’s commitment to digitalization.
“This alteration indicated a robust political will from the Merah Putih Cabinet to accelerate digital transformation, positioning digitalization as a core focus within this Ministry,” Patria explained.
He elaborated that one of Komdigi’s primary objectives will ensure that every Ministry, Agency, and Local Government possesses a Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) to protect digital systems from cyber threats. Komdigi also focuses on broadening digital infrastructure and maximizing digital connectivity to bolster an economic enhancement target of about 8%.
“To achieve an 8% economic growth, we must optimize the digital ecosystem to contribute to economic expansion,” Patria emphasized.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister Angga Raka Prabowo highlighted the role of digitalization in government as a critical strategy to alleviate poverty in the archipelago. According to President Prabowo, digitalization enables more precise social assistance through data.
“This is why we are pushing for government digitalization and ensure data accuracy is upheld—beneficiaries are identified by name and address in alignment with government objectives,” he explained.
Deputy Ministers Angga Raka Prabowo, Nezar Patria, and Minister Meutya Hafid will collaborate to achieve President Prabowo Subianto’s goals of maximizing the benefits of digital transformation for the Indonesian public.
“We are working together to realize these goals, making sure that the presence of the state truly benefits society to its fullest,” Prabowo affirmed.
