Heaptalk, Jakarta — Jaguar TCS Racing driver Mitch Evans managed to make history by winning the Jakarta E-Prix, the race that employed electric vehicles that are environmentally friendly. The victory is inseparable from the full support of Castrol, who also has a vision such as to realize an emission and pollution-free environment.
The partnership between Castrol and Jaguar dates back to the 1980s which has seen success in motorsport, including victories in the prestigious “Le Mans 24 Hours and the 24 Hours of Daytona”. This support then continued for the Jaguar TCS Racing Formula E team in October 2019 to help promote and demonstrate the strategic partnership between Jaguar TCS Racing and Castrol.
Working with Jaguar TCS Racing has accelerated the development and testing of a sophisticated range of Castrol EV fluids and lubricants which are seen in Mitch Evans’s electric race car, the Jaguar I-TYPE 5. The Jaguar TCS Racing team has seen significant performance improvements and has benefited from the expertise of Castrol’s engineers on and off the race track.
“We are delighted that Castrol continued to support the Jaguar TCS Racing team at the first race in Indonesia at the Jakarta E-Prix. Together we have a shared vision for sustainability, innovation, performance and technology. Bringing Castrol’s leading expertise and performance enhancing products to Jaguar TCS Racing is crucial for our powertrain efficiency development within our race cars.” said James Barclay, Team Principal, Jaguar TCS Racing at the Jakarta E-Prix.
According to James, the weather and temperature in Jakarta is one of the hottest of all the previous races. This is the biggest challenge to maintain the condition of the car and also the physical condition of the drivers and teams. However, Jaguar TCS Racing remains confident about the performance of the drivers, based on Mitch’s excellent qualifying results that ended up being the first winner at the Jakarta E-Prix.
“Our engineers and designers work closely with Castrol to implement the latest in EV fluid technology. At the heart of this, is Castrol EV Transmission fluid running within the I-TYPE 5 gearbox, fundamental to efficiency, thermal management and ensuring optimal transfer of energy from the powertrain to the wheels, driving race performance.” said Phil Charles, Technical Manager, Jaguar TCS Racing at the Jakarta E-Prix.
Currently, Castrol with its new strategy Castrol PATH360 is pushing a sustainability agenda that is targeted to be achieved by 2030. To achieve the Paris climate goals, Castrol PATH360 has three main focuses, that are reducing waste, carbon emissions, and improving people’s lives. Castrol is committed to providing customers with carbon neutral products. Therefore, this partnership, and the learnings from working alongside the Jaguar TCS Racing team can help Castrol to achieve its sustainability targets.
“Taking lessons from performance and efficiency improvements, Castrol continues to develop advanced technologies and EV fluids for today’s electric vehicles and those that will define the future of the automotive world.” closed Augustnine Adrianto, Castrol Indonesia Marketing Director. (WLN)
