Heaptalk, Jakarta — PT BYD Motor Indonesia affiliates with Subang Metropolitan’s developer PT Suryacipta Swadaya to build an electric car factory covering an area of 108 hectares, with an investment value of US$1.3 billion, approximately Rp21 trillion.
In the detailed location, this Chinese automotive brand will construct its EV factory in the northern Subang Smartpolitan Phase 2 area. This strategic location will simplify access to enter and quit the factory, with the primary exit from the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) Toll Road at KM 89, which is still under development.
“Through various assessments, BYD has determined that the Subang Smartpolitan industrial area is the proper location for BYD’s EV development in Indonesia. This industrial area meets our criteria in terms of size, distance, environment, and infrastructure needs, which is expected to be able to encourage the growth of the automotive industry and the transition to clean energy in the archipelago,” the President Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia, Eagle Zhao, conveyed.
Furthermore, this Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer intends to establish a comprehensive EV ecosystem in Subang Metropolitan, including a research and development center and training facilities equipped with the latest energy-efficient and environmentally friendly technology.
“This EV factory construction not only absorbs thousands of local workforces but also transfers technology and industrial expertise. This step will encourage the growth of supporting industries in the EV sector and unlock new possibilities for local companies to contribute to the global EV supply chain,” added Zhao.

In its factory development progress, BYD plans to hold this construction gradually and is expected to operate fully in January 2026. Regarding the production target, BYD aims to produce up to 150,000 units annually.
