Heaptalk, Jakarta — Astra International (ASII) reported car sales of 72,667 units in September 2024, according to an announcement on Sunday (10/13).
“This figure is down 5% month-to-month compared to August 2024, when sales reached 76,304 units. Year-on-year (YoY), compared to the same month last year, with 79,919 units sold, representing a 9.9% decline,” Astra stated in a written release.
Citing data published by the company on Friday (10/11), Astra sold 40,096 units in the car segment for September, compared to 42,195 units in August 2024. In the Low-Cost Green Car (LCGC) segment, sales reached 10,222 units in September 2024, down from 11,703 units in the previous month. However, from January to September 2024, Astra’s total car sales amounted to 357,802 units, with 101,118 units sold in the LCGC segment.
Specifically, sales of cars from the ASII group’s Toyota and Lexus brands reached 25,591 units in September, down from 26,183 units in the previous month. Meanwhile, Daihatsu sold 12,676 units in September, down from 13,829 in August.
Isuzu recorded sales of 1,670 units in September 2024, a decrease from 2,002 units the previous month. UD Trucks declined, dropping sales to 159 units from 181 in the prior month. Astra’s LCGC sales reached 10,222 units in September 2024, compared to 11,703 in August. Despite the decline, Astra still holds 55% of the national car market share.
Head of Corporate Communications at Astra, Boy Kelana Soebroto, stated in an official release on Friday (10/11) that, despite the decrease in sales, Astra continues to offer high-quality products and provide the best services to meet customer needs, supported by its sales network throughout Indonesia. “We hope to continue positively contributing to the national automotive industry,” Boy concluded.
