Providing extra buses
“We operated 1,398 units last year, up this year by 111% to 1,548 units. The availability has increased by 3 million seats. The projection of customers means it is already public as we started selling 2 months before (departure),” stated Setia N. Milatia Moemin, President Director of Perum Damri, at a press conference in the Ministry of SOEs, Central Jakarta (12/23).
In general, Damri has prepared three aspects to face this peak season: ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of customers; ramp checks to ensure the prime condition of the fleet; and preparation of various facilities and ensuring their cleanliness. Additionally, the company also provides ambulances at several crowded points.
To address congestion, Damri has standby extra buses at monitoring posts. All operating buses are also equipped with GPS devices. GPS is integrated with desktop and smartphone devices to help users know their location in real-time. “Therefore, sales and bus maps can be coordinated directly with us. Monitoring has been done in real-time, and sales are also made online,” Setia concluded.
