Heaptalk, Batam – In order to ensure the accessibility of essential goods in Batam ahead of Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024, the Trade Minister Zulkifli ‘Zulhas’ Hasan paid a visit to Pasar Pagi TOS 3000 , Sunday (17/12).
Monitoring the staple food price in the city, Zulhas stated that the cost of essential goods at Pasar Pagi Tos 3000, Batam, Riau Island especially in Batam is considered cheap and stable ahead of Christmas and New Year 2024. Furthermore, the supply is secured to face the upcoming holidays.
Minister Zulhas who was accompanied by Mayor of Batam, Muhammad Rudi, also said, “Overall, the price (of essential goods) at Pasar Pagi Tos 3000 to welcome the big holidays is considered stable, the supply is also stocked enough. Yesterday, I also checked Bhatupat Market in Lhokseumawe, Aceh and the price is quite stable. So, indeed the cost of pepper in Sumatra is rather cheap, below the national average.”
Monitoring results show the chicken price is Rp30.000/kg, large green chilies Rp30.000/kg, curly or large red chilies is in the range of Rp45.000–50.000/kg, green cayenne pepper is Rp45.000/kg, red cayenne pepper is in the range of Rp70.000–75.000/kg, garlic for Rp30.000/kg, and red onion is Rp35.000/kg.
Zulhas also appreciated the act that has been done by the Government of Batam as an attempt to stabilise the food prices by holding a cheap food market, “The cheap food market that initiated by the Government of Batam along with the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) invite several parties such as distributor association, to help fill the need of public.”
