Heaptalk, Jakarta — PT Sri Rezeki Isman Tbk (Sritex), recently declared bankrupt, received a strong response from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. Indonesia’s President period 2024 to 2029 firmly assured that there would be no layoffs at this company.
“I have instructed the Minister of Manpower to prevent layoffs at PT Sritex. I also urge employees to remain calm and continue production as usual,” stated Prabowo.
Prabowo added that he had mandated four ministries to collaborate in resolving the PT Sritex issue as a national pride in Indonesia’s textile industry. The ministries assigned by President Prabowo include the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, and the Ministry of Manpower. The President expressed confidence that the coordinated moves of these ministries are expected to rescue the company from bankruptcy.
Meanwhile, Minister of Manpower Yassierli explained that President Prabowo Subianto’s intention to save Sritex lies in its role as a labor-intensive industry that employs a large workforce. Furthermore, Yassierli mentioned that the government sought stability during Prabowo’s administration to avoid any economic disruptions that could destabilize the national economy.
“We all understand we are in the early stages of this administration. We want a positive start,” Yassierli said recently at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta.
Yassierli emphasized that the government also intends to send a positive signal to the business community, showing that the administration will support all stakeholders, including struggling companies and their workers.
“We want to signal to companies that we, the government, are here and will not let issues disrupt the economy or jeopardize employees,” Yassierli concluded.
