Heaptalk, Jakarta — East Kutai Regency is offered to host the second East Kalimantan Provincial Education Sports Festival (FOP) in 2023. The chairperson of the National Sports Teachers Association (Igornas) of East Kalimantan Province, Syahruddin SY conveyed the offering at the opening of the FOP at the Kadrie Oening Sports Center (11/02).
Syahruddin said that East Kutai was appointed as the host for the second FOP East Kalimantan in 2023 since the Regency participated by sending contingents for the two sports that were competed in the first FOP.
In addition, according to Syahruddin, by hosting the FOP, economic growth can spread to all districts and cities. He said, “If there is an event, food vendors and MSME sellers will enliven it, meaning that the multi-effects will grow. In addition to the FOP, there will also be an MSME Expo.”
Later on, the sports that will be competed can also be adjusted, with the eminent sport of East Kutai as the host, for instance, archery.
Responding to the offer, Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman said he would discuss it with his staff, particularly regarding the sports that will be prepared. At FOP 2022, only two sports are competed out of the fourteen sports planned in the grand design of national sports, namely athletics and pencak silat.
“We need to discuss further, yet I propose the implementation of FOP can be combined with the agenda of the East Kutai Indonesian Community Recreational Sports Federation (FORMI),” said Regent Ardiansyah accompanied by Head of Protocol and Communications Section Leader Basuki Isnawan.
According to the Regent, FORMI can also be a medium to introduce traditional sports. “There needs to be a discussion on the number of sports that are being prepared. We want to combine FOP and FORMI,” said the Regent in his closing statement.
