Heaptalk, Jakarta — Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, visited Cross-Border Post (PLBN) Jagoi Babang in Bengkayang Regency, East Kalimantan. This working visit is part of President Instruction Number 1 in 2019 concerning Accelerating the Development of 11 Integrated PLBN and Supporting Infrastructure in Border Areas.

On the other hand, this visitation also related to the proposal to inaugurate five new PLBNs in various provinces, including Serasan PLBN in Natuna Regency (Riau Islands), Sei Nyamuk PLBN in Nunukan Regency (North Kalimantan), Napan PLBN in North Central Timor Regency (Nusa Tenggara East), and PLBN Yetetkun in Boven Digoel Regency (South Papua).

“The Jagoi Babang PLBN post has a representative building, which indicates complete readiness for the immediate inauguration,” Tito said.

Served as the Head of BNPP, Tito Karnavian performed the final examination ahead of the inauguration of the boundary. He also emphasized the significance of strategic coordination between multiple parties, including BNPP, the Indonesian Military, and the National Police, in monitoring the rat path around the border areas.

“We continue to coordinate with the military and police team. However, these authorities need the contribution of regional society to monitor the rat path maximally due to insufficient personnel,” Minister Tito said.

On the other hand, Deputy for National Border Management of BNPP, Robert Simbolon, conveyed that his parties had conducted observations regarding the rat path around East Kalimantan. As a result, BNPP has discovered more than 29 illegal crossing points in the Sambas and Bengkayang Districts.

Furthermore, In 2022, Indonesia’s BNPP discovered about 25 rat paths in the Sanggau District. Meanwhile, this year’s observation in the Kapuas Hulu Regency detected around 24 rat paths and three new path points. According to Robert, the rat paths are one of the vulnerabilities at the land border, specifically in Kalimantan and Papua New Guinea.

As information, this inauguration and monitoring endeavors are part of the government strategy to optimize state border management. This PLBN Jagoi Babang can be inaugurated sooner and fully operate to serve people crossing the Indonesia-Malaysia border through this visitation.
