Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with the United States President, Joe Biden, at the White House, Washington D.C., (11/12). This agenda marked a significant milestone in the diplomatic relationship between Indonesia and the US, which has flourished for over 75 years.
“Thank you, President Biden, for welcoming us here. I also appreciate your personal call to congratulate me on my election,” President Prabowo said.
The Indonesian leader also emphasized his appreciation for the enduring friendship between Indonesia and the United States, which dates back to Indonesia’s struggle for independence. Prabowo stressed his administration’s commitment to strengthening this relationship further.
“For us, the United States is a great friend. The US supported our independence and extended assistance multiple times when we needed it. For this reason, I am committed to working hard to enhance our partnership,” he affirmed.
The US president identified critical areas of cooperation, including promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific region and supporting a clean energy transition. Indonesia is expected to build a more secure and resilient supply chain. He further emphasized the value of a comprehensive strategic partnership that deepens security cooperation between the two countries.
“We also discussed pressing global challenges, including the situation in Gaza and the South China Sea,” Biden concluded, highlighting the shared commitment to addressing pressing international issues,
