Sustainable Food Garden aims to improve the welfare and accessibility of household food according to the needs of Diverse, Nutritious, Balanced, and Safe food.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kutai Food Crops, Horticulture, and Livestock Department (DTPHP) carried out socialization of the Sustainable Food Garden program at the Teluk Pandan Village Public Meeting Hall, Teluk Pandan District (07/03). Sustainable Food Garden is translated from Pekarangan Pangan Lestari which is then abbreviated as P2L.
This activity aims to improve the welfare and accessibility of household food according to the needs of Diverse, Nutritious, Balanced, and Safe (B2SA) food and is oriented toward increasing household income.
Representing the Head of the East Kutai Food Crops, Horticulture, and Livestock Department, the Head of the Horticulture Division Wahyudi Noor said, “Apart from optimizing the household economy, in accordance with the mandate from the center, this program also targets people who are at risk of stunting. In its implementation, each farmer group is obliged to include residents who are recorded by the Social Department and the Health Department as people who are at risk of nutritional stunting.”
There are three farmer groups in Teluk Pandan District who will implement the Sustainable Food Garden program from the Ministry of Agriculture, namely Semangka Jaya, Sahabat Jaya, and Bunga Mekar.
According to Wahyudi, the Sustainable Food Garden program is one of the national development agendas to support the realization of national priorities namely strengthening economic agriculture for quality growth. In addition, this program is prioritized to support three other programs, namely the availability of access to and consumption of quality food, added value and industrial competitiveness, as well as management support.
“This activity is funded by the state revenue and expenditure budget (APBN) through a special allocation fund (DAK). However, in the future we have also prepared it and will start funding with the revised budget,” said Wahyudi. For the mechanism, the funds will be transferred directly to each farmer group in the amount of Rp60 million equivalent to US$3,994 (US$1 equals Rp15,019).
Thus, all activities in this program are financed through these funds, including physical development and developed plants. This has been regulated in accordance with the criteria and conditions set out in the technical guidelines. “Indeed, in this P2L program there are several stages, as we did today and then proceed with the development of the P2L results themselves,” Wahyudi concluded.
