Heaptalk, Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto visited the Aquaculture Production Business Service Center (BLUPPB) Karawang in West Java, under the Directorate General of Aquaculture of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), on Monday (12/02).
“This visit is part of the government’s efforts to realize the Asta Cita vision, focusing on food self-sufficiency, economic equity, and poverty eradication through optimizing the fisheries sector,” President Prabowo stated.
The saline tilapia farming program at BLUPPB Karawang is set to support the provision of free nutritious food based on fish protein for the community. This aligns with the government’s initiatives to combat stunting and improve the population’s nutritional quality.
The visit also highlights the government’s commitment to promoting aquaculture as one of the main pillars of the national economy while strengthening Indonesia’s position in the global market. Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, explained the potential and productivity of the saline tilapia farms in Karawang.
Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono elaborated that these farms have a high production target, reaching 80 to 100 tons per hectare per cultivation cycle. This underscores their significant potential to boost fisheries output and contribute to national food security, including contributing to provide free nutritious food based on fish protein for the community.
