Heaptalk, Jakarta — The creative economy plays a significant role in embodying President Prabowo’s Asta Cita priority programs, which aim to achieve inclusive and sustainable national development.
“Programs such as poverty eradication, strengthening education and technology, and preserving arts and culture are closely tied to the creative economy, which contributes to job creation, innovation, and global competitiveness,” said Minister of Creative Economy and Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, during a working meeting with Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Monday (11/18) at the Nusantara 1 Building, MPR/DPR Complex, Senayan, Jakarta.
Minister Riefky emphasized the need for structural transformation in the creative economy sector to accelerate achieving the Asta Cita goals. “We will navigate strategies to strengthen the creative economy ecosystem by referring to the direction and policies outlined by Bappenas for creative economy development,” he stated.
During the session, Minister Riefky outlined several programs to be implemented in the short, medium, and long term to support government priorities and initiatives with high social and economic multiplier effects.
Short-term programs include training chefs to support the Free Nutritious Meals program, creative economy incubation in food estate areas, and strengthening creative economy human resources through collaboration with educational institutions. This includes the superEmak affiliate program, which aims to empower thousands of women through a dynamic ecosystem involving social communities, apps, and web platforms.
“To establish the creative economy as a new engine for economic growth, the challenges facing the sector must be addressed promptly by building a targeted and holistic creative economy ecosystem,” Riefky emphasized.
To this end, the Ministry of Creative Economy has officially proposed an additional budget of Rp1.42 trillion to fulfill the needs of government priority programs under Asta Cita and other needs as a newly established ministry.
Previously, separating the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy into the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Creative Economy necessitated budget adjustments. The allocation now stands at Rp1.49 trillion for the Ministry of Tourism and Rp280 billion, or 18.79% of the total budget, for the Ministry of Creative Economy.
“We deeply appreciate the spirit within Commission VII regarding the future development of the creative economy, which aligns with our vision. Support for regulations and the additional budget proposal has been approved, though there are still processes to be followed for the budget increase mechanism,” Riefky concluded.
