Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Erick Tohir targets to optimize airport train potency in Jakarta. To achieve this target, the SOE Minister stated to close Karet Station which located near BNI City Station.
“This is what we intend to build the ecosystem of Indonesian trains. Perhaps Karet Station will be shut down,” conveyed Erick Tohir at BNI City Station on Wednesday (01/01).
Regarding this plan, the Director for the Development of Entrepreneur and Institution of PT KAI, Rudi As Aturridha also confirmed this idea possibly carried out. Rudi explained that the position of Karet Station is excessively close to BNI City Station.
“Thus, if people want to go to Karet area, they can walk. We have built a hallway to BNI City Station. Thus, the traffic will be faster,” voiced Rudi.
However, Rudi conveyed that the company is still waiting for the release of Train Travel Graph (Gapeka) 2025.
In addition to closing Karet Station, PT KAI plans to make Sudirman Station as the new stop of airport train. This policy is expected to assist LRT passenger to commute to airport without transit in Sudirman Station to BNI City Station.
“We plan to transport the airport train passengers from Sudirman, thus LRT passengers can head off to airport without going to BNI City,” conveyed Rudi.
PT KAI will also apply dynamic and progressive pricing. The traveling time from BNI City to Soekarno Hatta airport will also be shortened from 50 minutes to under 40 minutes.
Implementing these strategies, PT KAI aims to attract 20% of Soekarno-Hatta airplane passengers or ten million passengers. To date, airport train is reported has transported 1.5 million people a year.
