Heaptalk, Jakarta — The 10th Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) 2023 is poised to be held from October 25 to 29 at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). The Indonesian largest B2B and B2C expo is claimed to empower Indonesia’s position as the epicenter of the halal industry that is recognized globally.
The Director of Sharia Economy and Financial of Bank Indonesia (BI) Wahyu Purnama, during the press conference of ISEF 2023, stated, “The event aims to strengthen the collaboration and synergy between related institutions towards various policies, economic development, and sharia financial.” (09/26)
The sharia economic expo will be organized in conjunction with Halal Expo Indonesia (HEI) by involving 22 ministries and government institutions, 37 associations, 1,003 industry players, and 46 international partners, including buyers and investors from Indonesia and abroad. Aligned with the previous event, ISEF 2023 will employ “Accelerating Sharia Economy and Finance Through Digitalization for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth” as the theme. Involving multiple stakeholders, organizers targets to attract 40,000 visitors.
Based on Global Economy Indicator 2022, Indonesia is the world’s fourth-largest sharia economy after Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and UAE. Wahyu explained, “Based on category, Indonesia also is in the second place for halal food, third for Muslim Fashion, sixth for sharia finance, and ninth for halal pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.”
Moreover, the total assets of the sharia financial have grown by 11.3% for the last six years, with a total export of halal products worth US$15.87 billion as recorded by The Ministry of Trade. The establishment of three halal industry areas, including Banten, East Java, and Riau Islands, became an essential foundation to drive Indonesia as a Global Halal Hub.
Organizing this event, CFO of PT Halal Expo Indonesia (HEI) Aryo Wibisono said, “This event opens opportunities for entrepreneurs to cooperate with foreign producers”. He also appreciated BI’s commitment that continues to drive the development of national economic sharia.
As the additional information, HEI has conducted strategic partnership with Indonesian Muslim Entrepreneurs Community (KPMI) and has cooperated with multiple international halal exhibitions, spanning Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, London, Malaysia, Korea, Germany, Vietnam, and Japan.
