Heaptalk, Jakarta — Indonesia’s Shopping Center Retailers and Tenants Association (Hippindo) announced to hold the 2022 Indonesia Retail Summit (IRS) on August 15th – 16th, 2022, at Sarinah, Jakarta. The initiation of this event is a part of Hippindo’s endeavors to revive Indonesia’s retail industry and explore the market potential to compete globally.
This retail event also coincides with the 56th anniversary of Sarinah on August 15th as the initial modern retail store in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Following this agenda, Hippindo’s party will entail Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade and Tourism to thrive the Indonesia Retail Summit 2022 event.
Attending the IRS’s Press Conference (7/14), the General Chairman of Hippindo, Budiharjo Iduansjah, voiced that 2022 is the right momentum in bolstering the government to retrieve the national economy after struggling with new customs during the two years of the pandemic. He also hopes for the cooperation between government associations and the entire stakeholders to conduct a program for retail sectors to return to offline traffic.
As a part of Hippindo’s support for the digital transformation in Indonesia, Budiharjo added that his party would create a breakthrough in holding the IRS 2022 by collaborating with the WIR Group to adopt a metaverse technology. With the presence of this technology platform, he intends to provide a convenient shopping experience for the customers.
Simultaneously, Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, explained that household consumption is one of the driving factors in boosting the economy in Indonesia, contributing 53,65% to Indonesia’s GDP and performing a significant improvement of 3,34% in the early quartal of 2022. Realizing the enormous potential of the retail sector, Zulhas affirmed that Indonesia’s government would continue to stimulate the industry players to grow equitably.
“I hope the IRS 2022 can enhance domestic household consumption and open plenty of business opportunities for the augmentation of MSMEs, creative economy industry players, shopping centers, and retail sector entrepreneurs in Indonesia. Likewise, the launch of this retail event is anticipated to captivate international tourists while promoting the Indonesian cultural wealth,” Minister Zulhas added.
In its implementation, the IRS 2022 will present various enticing programs to attract both local and international visitors. The exciting schedule includes the Retail Conference for two days, the Retail Exhibition, the 6th Indonesian Discount Shopping Day (HBDI) opening, and the Indonesian Retail Modern Day (Harmoni) inauguration. Numerous retail tenants for diverse sectors will enliven the Retail Summit event, spanning food and beverage, handicrafts to fashion with a considerable discount related to commemorating the 77th Indonesia anniversary.
Also, Deputy for Industry and Investment of Indonesia Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Hengky Manurung, delivered a statement, “We are pleased to welcome this upcoming event, namely Indonesia Retail Summit. By presenting the HBDI agenda at this retail event, we are confident of strengthening the economic growth of this industry,”
On the day of the IRS event, the Chairman of the Indonesia Retail Summit, Anne Patricia Sutanto, plans to assemble local and international retail entrepreneurs to connect and spread many insights regarding retail. In addition, she revealed to involve government entities from multiple countries to generate business partnerships and investment opportunities.
