Heaptalk, Jakarta — Batik Chic, together with its sister brands under PT Wastra Cantik Indonesia, including NY by Novita Yunus, Tiraz Modest Wear, Simpul Sutra, BC Home, and Warung Mbak Mar Kemang, organized the celebration of its 15th anniversary at The Dharmawangsa Hotel Jakarta on Saturday (11/23).
Choosing “Metamorphosis” as the theme, the brand aims to represent the transformation of Batik Chic, the iconic fashion brand that combines tradition and modern touch to introduce cultural heritage globally. At the event, the innovation and creativity of Indonesian traditional clothes were showcased through various activities, spanning a talk show, bazaar, fashion show, and book launching with the title ‘Melukis Negeri dengan Benang: 15 Tahun Kreativitas Novita Yunus’ (means: Paint The Country with Thread: 15th Anniversary of Novita Yunus’s Creativity).
“Through the launch of this book, I would like to share my thoughts, ideas, and experiences to inspire other designers and also the young generation, driving them to love Indonesian traditional clothes more,” stated Novita Yunus, Founder and Creative Director of PT Wastra Cantik Indonesia on the press conference at The Darmawangsa Jakarta (11/23).
Novita also said that the book which consists of almost 300 pages is expected to share her story about developing Batik Chic and its sister brands, her experinces in overcoming multiple challenges and solidifying Batik Chic’s presence in the domestic and international markets.
“We summarize the journey of Batik Chic. Previously, many ministries asked me to share my experiences building this brand and bringing our traditional clothes to level up and inspire micro small enterprises (MSEs) to expand their bussines. Thus, maybe they can read my book,” voiced Novita.
Regarding the fashion show, the Indonesian brand presented exclusive collections to celebrate the brand’s 15-year journey. The collections include Batik Chic Classic, Batik Chic Special Jambi Collection, BC Tenun Special Collection, Jakarta Iconic Collection, NY by Novita Yunus, Tiraz, and Simpul Sutra.
