Heaptalk, Jakarta —  Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar visited the “Pipilaka Calling” exhibition at the Contemporary Art Gallery Jakarta, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta. She commended the immersive exhibition for advancing Indonesian local Intellectual Property (IP) and enhancing its visibility in the global arena.

Irene emphasized that the Ministry of Creative Economy fully supports the event and is committed to collaborating to promote local IP globally.

“I frequently mention that local IP has already achieved global recognition and garnered awards worldwide. I expect we can become leaders in our own country and expand our reach internationally within the next year.” Irene affirmed.

At the same event, Yovie Widianto, Special Staff to the President for Creative Economy, expressed his enthusiasm and appreciation for the “Pipilaka Calling” exhibition.

“Pipilaka conveys messages that are not preachy but resonate directly with young audiences. It represents a collaboration of inspiration, creativity, and a powerful message to motivate the new generation. This exhibition marks the beginning of our collective journey. We hope that moving forward, Pipilaka will continue to grow and become even more impactful,” Yovie remarked.

The Pipilaka Foundation organized the “Pipilaka Calling” exhibition. The Foundation aims to raise funds for social causes through annual art events, collaborating with prominent figures in the art world. Pipilaka Founder Wahyadi Liem explained that the exhibition featured works created by students from DOES University.

“The map was created by students from DOES University, an immersive animation school founded by Erix Sukamti, a member of the Endang Sukamti band. The students receive free education for 1.5 years, and upon completion, many go on to have successful careers at major companies such as Disney and Pixar,” said Wahyadi.

Through this exhibition, Pipilaka seeks to guide students from DOES University in developing homegrown IP that can be further expanded.

“This event is a step toward something larger. In June, July, and August, we plan to design an even bigger and better immersive experience, utilizing sensors, AI, and other technologies to deliver educational messages to the wider public,” he added.

Accompanying Deputy Minister Irene at the exhibition was Acting Deputy for Strategic Development of Creative Economy Cecep Rukendi.
