The training on cocoa derivative products was attended by 30 representatives of MSMEs from North Sangatta, South Sangatta, Rantau Pulung, Bengalon, and Teluk Pandan.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — The East Kutai Cooperatives and SMEs Department (Diskop UKM) held training on cocoa derivative products for three days at the MS Hotel, Sangatta. This activity was attended by 30 representatives of MSMEs spread across five districts, namely North Sangatta, South Sangatta, Rantau Pulung, Bengalon, and Teluk Pandan.
Commencing the activity, the Head of the East Kutai Diskop UKM Darsafani said that his party has made several efforts to advance MSME actors in the Regency, including organizing this training. As a concrete manifestation, the Department will gradually establish SME Centers in each district.
“The Regent has agreed on the initial stage to build an SME Center in Sangatta first. In this SME Center, I ask that there be a production house for multiple processed foods that apply technology such as machines for packing, making labels, and processing whatever is needed. These are all government efforts to encourage and revive micro-enterprises in East Kutai,” said Darsafani (07/11).
Further, Darsafani also asked his staff to monitor and evaluate MSMEs actors who apply the knowledge received during this training and previous sessions. He added, “For MSME players who have advanced and developed, we will give rewards later. The reward or assistance will be disbursed through cooperative institutions. Therefore, I invite the producers of processed cocoa to establish a cooperative to meet the requirements for assistance in the form of production equipment or technology.”
Inviting AFA Cokelat from Jember, East Java as a speaker
Meanwhile, the Head of the Micro Business Sector of the East Kutai Diskop UKM Pasombaran said that this training aims to increase the knowledge of MSME actors about diverse types of food or drinks that can be produced from cocoa to further add to the economic value of the product.
Pasombaran said, “SMEs do not only sell cocoa but can process it into other products while still using cocoa as the main raw material.” This training is one of the Department’s efforts in providing services to MSMEs in East Kutai to elevate their business to a higher level.
“The participants are expected to apply all the material presented by the speakers from Jember Regency, East Java Province, namely Farida and Angga from AFA Cokelat,” concluded Pasombaran.
