Heaptalk, Jakarta — Telkom Indonesia’s startup incubator and accelerator program, Indigo, held a hybrid Game Clinic via online and offline platforms for two days. This activity was held in collaboration with the gaming ecosystem in Indonesia, including Gameloft, Nuon, Gamelan, GDM, Gadas, and Hima Gametech MMTC.

The Game Clinic was participated by 17 games studios with a 1-on-1 activity format between mentors and game studios for 60 minutes. The mentors are international and national games practitioners from Nuon, Mojiken Studio, Wisageni Studio, and Gameloft.

“Game Clinic is one of our programs to support local game developers in developing high-quality games. Hopefully, this activity can help them to compete in the international market,” said Indigo Program Senior Manager Patricia Eugene Gasperz.

Since its inception in 2013, Indigo has incubated and accelerated more than 200 digital startups, 17 of which are local games developers in Indonesia. Through the incubator and accelerator program, Telkom has proven itself to be part of the local gaming industry which contributes to GDP and employment in Indonesia.

Yogyakarta’s potential in gaming industry

Founder of Pendopo Studio, Puspanegara, said that Indonesia, especially Yogyakarta, has great potential in the gaming industry. Dozens of studios from Jogja have succeeded in making games on an international scale. As Chair of the Jogja Game Developer Community called Gamelan, Puspanegara said that one of the goals of his community is to facilitate new game developers to gain experience and knowledge from senior game developer colleagues.

“This Game Clinic event is also a means for new game developers to create games on an international scale,” voiced Puspanegara. This activity organized by Indigo and the game ecosystem in Indonesia is a form of synergy between multiple entities engaged in the incubation and acceleration of games in Indonesia.

Through Game Clinic, Indigo would like to exhibit its commitment and support for the development of the gaming ecosystem in Indonesia. This event is expected to provide benefits and positive impacts for game developers in Indonesia.
