Heaptalk, Jakarta — Mora Telematika Indonesia (Moratelindo), an Indonesian telecommunications company, has expanded its internet services to Timor Leste through a collaboration with Metrolink LDA, an ICT product and service provider based in Dili.
Representatives from both parties signed a cooperation agreement, extending their previous collaboration in 2019. This partnership involves Moratelindo providing internet services in Timor Leste. The initiative is expected to enhance the quality of sustainable telecommunications and digital services, particularly in internet provision.
Moratelindo has received permission to offer internet services based on the decision of the Director General of Post and Telecommunications No. 78, dated February 18, 2016. Metrolink has also obtained authorization as an internet service provider under Article 30 of the Telecommunications Decree-Law of Timor Leste (Decree-Law 15/2012) from the National Communications Authority (ANC), with Certified Registration No. 002/REG/ANC/III/2021, as reported by Kontan.
According to Resi Y. Bramani, Chief Strategic Business Officer (CSBO) of Moratelindo, the sustainability of the collaboration with Metrolink as a strategic partner positively impacts the company. “In addition to expanding Moratelindo’s international business reach, this cooperation aligns with Moratelindo’s commitment to actively contribute to transforming society into a leading digital community,” Resi stated, as quoted by Kontan (09/16).
Established in 2000, Moratelindo started as an internet service and phone card provider. In 2007, the company transformed into a telecommunications infrastructure provider, building a 7.5 km fiber optic cable network in Java, known as Java Backbone.
In 2008, the telco formed its first international partnership with Singapore. This global collaboration was marked by establishing a subsidiary in Singapore, Moratel International, and constructing the first international submarine fiber optic cable connecting Jakarta and Singapore, called MIC-1.
