The upcoming Windows 11 update will bring over 150 new features with experiences supported by Copilot and AI, such as Paint, Photos, and Clipchamp.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — Microsoft officially announced Copilot as a unified artificial intelligence assistance accessible in Windows 11, Microsoft 365, as well as web browsers Edge and Bing. Copilot in Windows will be available on September 26, 2023, while the rest this fall.
Copilot provides assistance by combining web context and intelligence, user work data, and current user activity on the PC. Microsoft claimed that this AI assistance prioritizes user privacy and security.
“We are entering a new era of AI, one that is fundamentally changing how we relate to and benefit from technology. With the convergence of chat interfaces and large language models, you can now ask for what you want in natural language and the technology is smart enough to answer, create it, or take action. At Microsoft, we think about this as having a copilot to help navigate any task,” stated Corporate Vice President and Consumer Chief Marketing Officer at Microsoft Yusuf Mehdi in the official blog post.
In more detail, the upcoming Windows 11 update will bring over 150 new features with experiences supported by Copilot and AI, such as Paint, Photos, and Clipchamp. Microsoft 365 Copilot will be accessible to enterprise customers on November 1, 2023, along with Microsoft 365 Chat, a new AI assistant.
Meanwhile, Bing will present Dall-E 3, OpenAI’s latest model that converts text to image, in Bing Image Creator. The web browser will also provide more personalized answers based on search history, an AI-powered shopping experience, and a more mobile and visual update to Bing Chat Enterprise.
Launching Surface devices to support the AI experiences
Earlier this year, the tech giant embedded Copilot AI-powered features in the mentioned apps in turn since February 2023, spanning Bing and Edge, Microsoft 365, and Teams. A month later, the company also introduced Security Copilot for cyber defense.
Mehdi further explained, “We have been building AI-powered copilots into our most used and loved products – making coding more efficient with GitHub, transforming productivity at work with Microsoft 365, redefining search with Bing and Edge, and delivering contextual value that works across your apps and PC with Windows.”
In addition, the company also introduced recent Surface devices that bring all these AI experiences. Pre-orders can be made starting September 21, 2023. The new devices include Laptop Studio 2, Laptop Go 3, Go 4 for Business, Hub 3, and 3D printable adaptive pen grips for Surface Pen.
“We will continue to add capabilities and connections to Copilot across to our most-used applications over time in service of our vision to have one experience that works across your whole life,” Mehdi concluded.
