Microsoft Teams has been revamped based on speed, performance, flexibility, intelligence and is equipped with AI Copilot, delivering faster performance and less memory consumption.
Heaptalk, Jakarta — Microsoft launched the preview version of the new Teams desktop app for commercial customers using Windows (03/27). Advanced Teams presents next-generation AI experiences, including Copilot which previously has been embedded into Microsoft 365 and Bing.
The revamped app is built based on speed, performance, flexibility, and intelligence. Microsoft claimed it delivers up to 2x faster performance while consuming 50% less memory, resulting in time-saving and efficient collaboration.
“We have been listening to your feedback which has culminated in a reimagining of Teams from the ground up to provide a faster, simpler, and more flexible experience. New Teams is built on a foundation of speed, performance, and flexibility, to help you save time, and work together more efficiently,” conveyed Product Lead at Microsoft Teams, Anupam Pattnaik, on the official blog.
Further, Anupam delivered that the new app provides support for users to collaborate across organizations and manage multiple work or school accounts. He said, “You can be signed into multiple organizations and accounts simultaneously and receive notifications for all your accounts, no matter which one is currently in use. The new Teams also ensure simplified IT management and enhanced data security.”
Over 280 million active users per month
First launched in 2017, Microsoft Teams has become a communication and collaboration tool that combines chat and meetings and even sharing apps and files whether used for work, school, or life. Currently, the app has over 280 million active users per month to carry out productive activities and connect with colleagues, partners, customers, friends, and family.
Afterward, Microsoft plans to roll out the new app preview version for Mac users. “We intend to extend the preview release to a broader set of customers, including those using Macs later this year,” stated Microsoft in its website. The company aims to launch the new Teams later in 2023.
Users in the Public Preview program will have prompt access to the revamped app. Meanwhile, a broader set of commercial customers will need an admin to opt in. Later, users will see a simple toggle to switch to the new Teams. Users can switch back to classic Teams at any time.
