Heaptalk, Jakarta — The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo), through the Directorate of Post and Informatics Device Standardization, has established a partnership with the Indonesian Internet of Things Association (Asioti) to promote the development of IoT technology, as reported by Kontan.

This collaboration aims to create a robust, innovative, and sustainable IoT ecosystem and support technology-based economic growth in Indonesia. Mulyadi, the director of Post and Informatics Device Standardization at Kominfo, revealed several specific plans for IoT tech development.

“We are focusing on developing technological innovations and IoT solutions that can be applied across various sectors. Additionally, we are formulating technical standards that meet national needs and are compatible with international standards to ensure interoperability and security,” Mulyadi explained, as quoted by Kontan (07/01).

Supporting market research of IoT development

In executing these plans, the Ministry will involve the private sector and academia through various initiatives such as seminars, workshops, and hackathons. Asioti is expected to support market research and the preparation of white papers on IoT developments in Indonesia. This support includes providing comprehensive industry data, contributing to the writing and reviewing of white papers, and participating in discussions and seminars during preparation.

Moreover, Kominfo sees the AIoT Smart Solutions Initiative 2024 as a strategic step to continue and expand the achievements of the IoT Makers Creation and Indonesia Smart Solution Summit events held since 2018 in collaboration with Asioti. Mulyadi stated, “This initiative will expand the focus on solutions that integrate IoT with artificial intelligence (AIoT) to create more efficient solutions.”

The initiative targets increasing the number of startups and companies adopting AIoT technology, developing new technical standards for AIoT technology, and raising awareness and knowledge about AIoT’s benefits and applications in society.

“We hope this initiative can catalyze the development of a more mature and integrated technology ecosystem in Indonesia, creating smart solutions that can enhance operational efficiency in key sectors such as transportation, healthcare, and manufacturing,” concluded Teguh Prasetya, Chairman of Asioti.
