Tangerang, October 15, 2025 – Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, along with Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, officially opened the 40th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2025 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Wednesday (10/15). This annual international event, organised by the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, carries the theme “Discover Indonesia’s Excellence: Trade Beyond Boundaries”.
In his remarks, Coordinating Minister Zulhas, representing President Prabowo Subianto, stated that the government’s trade policies are on the right track. This is evident in Indonesia’s continued positive foreign trade performance.
“As of this month, the value of national exports has grown by more than 7 per cent compared to last year, with the trade surplus increasing to USD 29 billion. This is an extraordinary achievement, the result of the hard work of all parties. Through a spirit of cooperation and optimism, Indonesia will continue to strengthen its position as a highly competitive economic power in the global market,” said Coordinating Minister Zulhas.
Meanwhile, Trade Minister Busan reported in his report that TEI 2025 was attended by 1,619 participants with 8,045 registered buyers from 130 countries. The exhibition was divided into three main zones: food and agricultural products, manufactured products, and services and lifestyle, with a transaction target of USD 16.5 billion.
“TEI is a concrete manifestation of the President’s Asta Cita (Asta Cita) implementation of strengthening national downstreaming and industrialisation, as well as expanding Indonesia’s role in the global supply chain towards a Golden Indonesia,” said Trade Minister Busan.
Trade Minister Busan stated that in addition to the exhibition, the 40th TEI also featured a series of supporting activities such as business matching, business counselling, and various business forums.
The 40th TEI, he continued, was synergised with the Pangan Nusa Exhibition, held in Hall 9 of ICE BSD City. The Pangan Nusa Exhibition served as a promotional platform for Indonesia’s culinary riches and food potential, showcasing a variety of superior products from various regions. “This exhibition also serves as a showcase for national culinary entrepreneurs to showcase the quality of their products and open up opportunities for collaboration and access to the global culinary market,” added Trade Minister Busan.
Trade Minister Busan also expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the cooperation and support of all parties. He expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesian representatives in partner countries, representatives of friendly countries in Indonesia, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), and the Chambers of Commerce of friendly countries, which have played an active role in attracting international buyers and expanding Indonesia’s trade network globally.
He also expressed his appreciation to the main sponsors, namely Bank Mandiri, Pertamina, and the Indonesian Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS), for their support and participation in making the 40th TEI a success. He also expressed his gratitude to all ministries and institutions, regional governments, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and the private sector, as well as PT Debindomulti Adhiswasti, the organiser, who have made significant contributions to the smooth and successful running of this event.
“Through the spirit of cooperation and optimism we have built together, I am confident that Indonesia will continue to strengthen its position as a highly competitive economic power in the global market for the welfare of the nation and the prosperity of the global community,” added Trade Minister Busan.
During the opening ceremony, Trade Minister Busan presented the Primaniyarta Award to the best exporters and regional heads who have consistently increased their export value and boosted global brand awareness. Awards were also presented to exporters who pioneered new markets and inspired Indonesian exporters.
Trade Minister Busan also presented the Primaduta Award to loyal buyers and Indonesian export partners. This award was also presented to the Heads of Indonesian Representatives abroad for their efforts in encouraging increased Indonesian non-oil and gas exports.
Also present at the opening of the 14th TEI were Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman, Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Yandri Susanto, Governor of Banten Andra Soni, and Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Anindya Bakrie.
In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Fransisco Kalbuady Lay; the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry of Yemen, Salem Mohamed Ahmed Salman; the Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones of Egypt, Hossam Heiba; Indonesian ambassadors to friendly countries; and a number of ambassadors from friendly countries were also present.
